Work Environment / Location
  • Based in Taipei with close collaboration with global teams (e.g., Europe HQ)
  • Frequent interaction with ODM partners, carriers, and suppliers across Asia, Europe, and North America
  • Occasional travel to certification labs, factories, and development sites may be required
  • Hybrid working environment with strong cross-site collaboration needs.

About your role

The RF Engineering Manager leads the end-to-end radio frequency (RF) development of smartphone products, covering antenna systems, RF front-end integration, carrier performance, regulatory compliance, and production readiness.
This role is responsible for defining RF architecture, driving technical execution, and ensuring robust wireless performance across cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS, UWB, NTN and NFC systems. From early concept and platform selection through validation, certification, and mass production, the role ensures delivery of a reliable and high-performing connectivity experience aligned with product, timeline, and cost objectives.
The position works closely with internal Hardware, Mechanical, Software, Product, PMO, and Quality teams, as well as external ODMs, chipset vendors, antenna suppliers, and carriers.

Key Responsibilities & Objectives

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the full RF development lifecycle from concept to mass production,
  • Define RF system architecture including antenna topology, RF front-end, coexistence strategy, and regional band support,
  • Translate product requirements (market, bands, regional variants) into executable RF engineering plans,
  • Lead antenna placement and system integration within industrial design and mechanical constraints,
  • Act as the key interface across Product, SDO (Project management), Hardware, Mechanical, Software, and ODM partners,
  • Ensure robust performance across cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS, NFC, and emerging connectivity technologies,
  • Optimize RF path design considering insertion loss, efficiency, shielding, grounding, and noise coupling,
  • Drive dual SIM / eSIM / regional SKU RF strategy where applicable,
  • Balance performance, space, repairability, and manufacturability requirements,
  • Define Engineering Requirement Specifications (ERS), validation plans, and RF performance KPIs,
  • Oversee conducted and radiated RF testing including TRP/TIS, OTA, throughput, sensitivity, and coexistence testing,
  • Lead SAR / HAC / EMC / regulatory readiness and compliance execution,
  • Ensure carrier acceptance readiness across key operators such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and European carriers,
  • Lead failure analysis and debug of RF issues during build phases and mass production,
  • Support strategic decisions on market variants, carrier priorities, and roadmap planning.
Key Objectives
  • Deliver strong and reliable wireless performance across all supported technologies and regions,
  • Ensure successful RF execution across EVT / DVT / PVT to mass production,
  • Define scalable RF architecture aligned with industrial design and product constraints,
  • Achieve carrier certification and regulatory approvals on schedule,
  • Optimize antenna and RF system performance under space, thermal, SAR, and cost constraints,
  • Build strong collaboration with ODMs, carriers, and key suppliers.

Core Activities

  • Review RF development progress with internal teams and ODM partners,
  • Drive antenna tuning, RF performance analysis, and issue resolution,
  • Coordinate certification and carrier readiness plans together with TAMs,
  • Support design reviews with Mechanical and Hardware teams,
  • Analyze lab/field performance data and define corrective actions,
  • Track risks, milestones, and launch readiness across programs.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in smartphone RF development and antenna/system integration,
  • Deep knowledge of cellular technologies (2G/3G/4G/5G), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS, NFC,
  • Experience with OTA, TRP/TIS, SAR, EMC, carrier certification processes,
  • Proven experience working with ODMs, carriers, and RF suppliers,
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and project management skills,
  • Ability to solve complex RF issues under aggressive timelines.
( Nice to Have )
  • Knowledge of mmWave, satellite connectivity, or next-generation wireless systems,
  • Familiarity with repairability-focused hardware design constraints.
